Satellite Fraud and Piracy are Illegal

This site provides information concerning criminal and civil actions brought by DIRECTV against those who fraudulently obtain DIRECTV programming without authorization by and proper payment to DIRECTV or illegally design, manufacture, market, sell, or use devices that allow access to satellite signals without payment to DIRECTV. This site also dispels certain comforting "myths" that may exist in the fraud and pirate community such as "you can pay me and I will take care of the DIRECTV account," or "you don't ever need to call DIRECTV to handle your account, I can do that for you. 02/09/2008DIRECTV files complaints against 14 bars across the country for commercial misuse. DIRECTV seeks damages for violations of several federal statutes, including The Cable Communications Act of 1984 and 47 U.S.C. §605, which provides for statutory damages of up to $100,000 per violation.

11/01/2007Long time pirates Art Deerey and Dan Deerey of HCARD.ORG are indicted on thirteen (13) counts of piracy. Their arraignment is set for 11/20/07.

09/19/2007DIRECTV obtains judgment for $100,000 against Ryan Brooks and Loco's Deli and Pub in GA, for Commercial Misuse.

09/11/2007Paul Maxwell-King, Steve Edmondson, Robert McLaren, Susan Parker-Trudgian, and John Dumas were indicted on piracy charges. Maxwell-King and Edmondson were extradited from England and ordered to pay restitution of $4,324,320 along with McLaren, Parker-Trudgian, and Dumas.
