12/27/2006DIRECTV files complaints against three NY bars for commercial misuse. DIRECTV seeks damages for violations of several federal statutes, including The Cable Communications Act of 1984 and 47 U.S.C. §605, which provides for statutory damages of up to $100,000 per violation.

09/21/2006Brian Dorsett, developer of the HU loader, entered a guilty plea in federal court. Dorsett faces up to five years in prison, $800,000 in restitution and supervised release for up to three years. Dorsett is currently serving a 30 month federal sentence for DIRECTV Latin American piracy.

09/20/2006David Garnett and Shawn James, a DIRECTV installer, of Philadelphia were charged with two counts of wire fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1343. The two face a maximum of 60 years in prison, $2 million in fines and three years supervised release.
